I believe I have been planning this project in my head for about three months now. I had no headboard and it was driving me nuts. This is what I was working with…
Which is fine but I wasn’t digging it. I finally decided that I wanted to create some sort of mock headboard so I came up with this…
I love it!! I think it looks 100% better. I am in the middle of a bedroom re-do so I don’t have all the throw pillows I’d like and I have only one night stand but its coming together. Here is how I pulled these headboard frames together.
I purchased three frames from Target on clearance for $12 a piece.
I removed the Plexiglas that was substituting as glass and took off the back cardboard piece of the frame.
I then simply added four layers of quilt filler to the cardboard, secured into place by my trusty glue gun.
I measured out my fabric and then ironed out all the wrinkles, I hate ironing by the way.
Notice the Diet Coke in the background? No project is complete without a Diet Coke nearby. The next step was wrapping the fabric around the frame backing and the quilt filler. The key here was making sure to add a cutout any where there was a frame hook. Like this…
It doesn’t make for a pretty looking back but no one is going to see that, at least that’s what I have to keep telling myself.
After that came my next least favorite activity (after ironing), hanging the frames up. I may have a mild case of OCD so even after measuring 23832749023 times I am never satisfied that they are straight. Oh well. Here is the final product…
This picture makes me see that they are for sure not straight
.
Be on the look out for my final master bedroom reveal (once I get around to finishing it).

The "headboard" frames look great! (and, by the way, there is not a single task that I can complete without a diet coke as well)

Clever headboard solution! Very doable. I'll have to suggest it to my mom for her guest room--she's not super crafty but I think she could pull this one off!
