Canvas Art

Tuesday, March 1, 2011
I decided to make some wall art for my bedroom since I'm in the middle of re-doing my master bedroom. I simply painted four canvases with grey paint and let them dry.

Next I just free handed the word love with white paint across all four canvases. I let that dry and then I was finished, here is the "final" product...

I loved the way it turned out but notice it is not hanging on my wall and notice I used quotes when I said "final". Well my boyfriend came home from work and said, "I think it looks great but...love is a little bit girly of a word to hang in my master bedroom". A valid point I myself had thought of but I couldn't think of what other word I would have painted. So I need your help, I need to re-paint a new word...any ideas?
Some I've thought of:
1. Sleep
2. Good Night
3. Good Morning
and that's about it ha. I would appreciate any and all suggestions :)

Okay this is seriously awesome. If you ever decide to sell this or make another and sell it I will totally buy it!!!

So this totally random, but what about "safe"? Kind of like safe in your arms?

Anna said...

What about "kiss"? I think it's cute as it is but I think my husband would say the same thing as your boyfriend. :)

So cute!!! If you aren't going to use it you should auction it off in a giveaway :) ... just a suggestion. Umm, good night is a nice one, "sweet dreams" could also be good if that's not too girly!

I like "love". Isn't that what you should feel in your bedroom? I don't think it's girly. I say hang it!

Kelli @ RTSM said...

I don't think love is too girly but if you want to change I think I would go with sleep!

What about "macho" or "football?" Those are good, manly words. ;) I like Love and Relax...Dream...eat, drink & be merry for tomorrow you may die...what? Too long? :)- Ha!

I think this is a great idea, though. I love how you did it and how it turned out! Brilliant.

New to your blog, looks cute! I am in Texas too, what area do you live in? Love the name, elephants are my favorite animal. If I had thought of that one I might have used it. Our names are similar too, mine's Laura and I have a chocolate lab! I'm not creepin, we just have alot in common. I vote the word dream for your room!

dream? peace? rest? i like your "love" though. but i am girly :)

I LOVE this too!

I seriously love this! And now I have an idea for a couple of bare walls in my home. You could always choose a word in a foreign language. Perhaps "love" in French or italian would be more manly. :) I personally would choose "puss och kram" (the equivalent of hugs and kisses in Swedish).

Lisa said...

I like it! I don't think there's anything wrong with "love" at all!

terrid614 said...

i literally "love" it.....i do not think too girly at all...but then i am not a man! stopping by from the blog hop! xo

Debra said...

I love it! I think 'love's is perfect for the bedroom but I'm not a guy.. I like 'sleep' or 'dream' - or maybe your initials?

Look forward to seeing the final final. :)

I may be biased to the word "love"...but I think it's adorable.

If I ever get to painting my bedroom (of course it's last on the list) I will need lots of art on my bare walls and this would be great. I think I might go with the word "slumber" would that work for you too maybe?

Kalen said...

I ADORE this!!! If the boy doesn't want it, you can send it to me & I'll gladly put it to good use. ;-)

cool idea ... I like Dream - being that it is above the bed ... although other good ones; Imagine, Desire, Beauty, Crave, Reflect, Play, Relax, Unwind & Sandman would all kind of be good in the bedroom .... :)

Too cute! I have 4 canvases in my closet--- wondering how I could use them in my daughters' room. I know now! :) (but for me, it will be their names probably)...

"LOVE" is nice. Tell him to suck it up. haha "Escape" is nice too though.

Sounds like both of you share the master bedroom? If so, it seems like the right word to me.

It looks good, so I'd leave it alone. You did very good to freehand that. I'm not good at freehanding letters when painting.
