Handmade Frosty Paws

Tuesday, April 5, 2011

My dog is a huge fan of Frosty Paws and if you haven’t heard of Frosty Paws it is a dog trip found in your grocery’s freezer section.

They are great to give your dog on a hot day but they tend to be a bit of a rip off for a pack of just four treats and so I first saw the idea to make handmade Frosty Paws at the blog, The Loops and I decided to try it myself.
First you need to measure out a half cup of peanut butter in the microwave.

Melt the peanut butter till it is very easy to stir.

Next scoop up a half cup of non-fat plain yogurt.

Mix the peanut butter and yogurt together real nice.

I then added the mixture to my dog’s Kong toys. Kong toys are awesome if you don’t know what they are and you have a dog they can be found at nearly any pet store.

I simply stuffed the silicone Kong toy with the yogurt and peanut butter mixture then placed the Kongs in the freezer over night.

The next morning when I left for work he was more than happy to see me leave in exchange for a handmade Frosty Paw in his Kong.

This is awesome! thanks for sharing. I have two dogs and find it being an insane amount to buy them treats i usually opted for ice cubes (they love em) but i think they might appreciate a "frosty paw" much more!. Thanks again *Caity*

what an awesome and cost-effective idea! I love it!!

Is the yogurt safe for dogs? I read somewhere that dogs arent supposed to eat dairy.
