Save Your Phone

Wednesday, June 8, 2011

Some of you may know this trick but if you don't I may be able to save you some money, trouble, tears and lost data (no promises just maybes here people). My iPhone decided to take a swim this weekend in a bucket I was using to mop the floors with- awesome. The first thing I did was snatch that puppy up so fast and start drying it off. I dried my phone with a towel and blew in the charger outlet to make sure all the water was out of that area. After this I turned off my phone and placed my phone in a bowl of rice.

I made sure my phone was covered in the rice and let sit for a few hours. The rice draws out the moisture from your phone and helps to dry out your phone. After I had let my phone sit I pulled it out re-turned it on and checked to make sure it was able to charge and I was good to go! Thank goodness! Disaster avoided, this time.

I did this wit my LAPTOP and it was saved! I spilled an entire glass of red wine (I swear I was NOT drunk, just tripped) and wow...this does work!

I would also recommend immediately removing the battery you can put both in the rice and this will keep your electrical components from frying anymore than the initial fry :D

Great advice, I've used this to save a few cell phones before.

But that was before I came into the 21st century and got an iphone, now I don't even let my phone think about getting near something that might hurt it.
It may help if you seal the phone/rice up in a freezer bag or something, that's what I did and that's how I heard it, I dunno if it makes a difference but just throwing it out there.

You are VERY lucky! Mine took a swim in the toilet and was dead after trying to save it in rice!

This trick saved my son's phone when he dropped his in his drink. Oddly enough he had just gotten this how to trick via an e-mail from his mother (me) so it just goes to prove that even when your 28 your mom can still save the day. LOL
I'm following you on GFC and found my way to your facebook page too.
